Comments from Readers of "Teddy's TV Troubles"
"My son loved it. He brought it right into school and read it for show and tell."
-- Mother of a six-year-old boy in Wisconsin
.........."Wow! Your book is incredible. Listen to this (I wish I could have videotaped it and sent it to you so you'd believe me):
My daughter asked me all kinds of questions all the way through it and all sorts of things came up. She told me she is scared of monsters that she saw on TV and that she wants to be a big girl and sleep alone like Teddy. She asked me for a stuffed animal (like Teddy has!) and she has been falling asleep completely ALONE (with the stuffed animal), door closed, for two nights!!!!!!!! (Usually takes me an hour rubbing her back)!!!
I might have to thank you for saving my marriage of this continues!!!
She LOVES the part where they read a book about a bear who saw something scary...she said BOTH nights 'Hey that's what we're doing!'
Thank you sooo much for sending it. Now I need to share it with others! I especially like the tips at the end, what a GREAT idea."

ONE MONTH LATER: "[My daughter] is still going to sleep completely on her own...and we read your book
almost every night!".......
"We read the Teddy book to our 4 year old THREE TIMES today because he liked
it so much. It is rare for him to want to read a book more than once. The favorite part was the banana in the ear (for all three kids). They laughed and laughed."
-- Father of a 9-year-old girl and 8- and 4-year-old boys in Michigan

"The children's book is really excellent! It gives children a language to express their 'scary TV experiences' and offers suggestions and opportunities for children to work through these experiences with the adults around them . . . P. S. Please send me another copy and a copy of 'Mommy, I'm Scared.' I am going to show them to my colleagues at work."
-- Dorothea Torstenson, child psychologist, Madison, WI
........

"I wanted to write and express my admiration and gratitude for what you've written. As a rabbi and educator, I appreciate what you've done on this very important topic. I know that children are very affected by what they see and hear on television and movies so I'm glad you've addressed the topic head-on."
-- Rabbi Jim Michaels, Rockville, MD

"This is a FABULOUS resource for any parent wanting to help their children make sense of TV.
Dr. Cantor has gotten to the heart of the matter. I recommend it to everyone!"-- Kathleen DesMaisons, author of Potatoes, Not Prozac
.........
"I have received your book and am really happy to have it. It fills an enormous hole in children's literature -- namely, helping adults and children talk about the content of media and how it affects children and providing strategies for helping children."
-- Diane Levin, Professor of Education, Wheelock College
